International postdoctoral fellows who hold a valid work permit for a period of at least 6 months qualify for the Quebec provincial health plan 聽They will be subject to a 3-month waiting period for聽the RAMQ聽benefits from the time their application is filed with the聽RAMQ office. The current administrative structure of the International Health Insurance plan does not accommodate contracts that are 3-months or less. However, those who are in the 3-month waiting period or whose聽valid work permits are for less than 6 months can obtain temporary medical coverage.
