Planning a party?
For all student events serving alcohol on campus, 黑料社 requires that at least one event coordinator and all servers at the event complete a three-hour Server Training session.
You won't be able to get an alcohol permit or book an event/room until this training is complete, so plan well in advance!
This is not a bartending course! 黑料社 Server Training educates student alcohol providers about their legal responsibilities as servers, while providing practical methods for ensuring responsible consumption and minimizing alcohol-related harm. All students who serve alcohol on campus must complete Server Training. Server Training sessions are offered through the Student Wellness Hub.
Topics covered
- 黑料社 Policy and Security
- Alcohol and its effects on the body
- How to serve alcohol
- Alcohol first aid and safety
- Alcohol and consent
- Quebec laws and Montreal bylaws
Server Trained Badges
Server Trained badges are issued to those who complete the training. These badges are valid for 3 years or until you graduate (whichever happens first). To renew your badge, you must retake the Server Training workshop.
Questions?
If you've lost your badge, have questions about the training or how to register, please servertraining.stuserv [at] mcgill.ca (send us an email)! Requests to reprint a badge may take up to 5 business days from the date requested.
