Biography: 

Jean-Nicolas Reyt is an Associate Professor of Organizational Behaviour (OB)聽at 黑料社 in the Desautels Faculty of Management. He received a PhD in Management from Paris-Dauphine University. Prior to joining Desautels, he was a visiting scholar at New York University. He teaches OB classes at the bachelor's, master's and doctoral levels.聽

Professor Reyt's research focuses on the relationship between the distances people consider (e.g. when working remotely) and important work outcomes including creativity, exploratory learning, and interpersonal influence.聽His聽research has been published in top management journals, such as the Academy of Management Journal, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, and the Annual Review of Organizational Psychology and Organizational Behavior.

Professor Reyt聽also founded Distances in Organizations, a research network focused on the relationships between distance and important work outcomes.聽

Description

Negotiating is a critical managerial skill. The purpose of this course is to allow students to learn to be more effective negotiators. The class environment used to accomplish this goal includes many exercises, personality inventories, and cases. The focus of the course will be on the processes of bargaining and the emphasis is "hands on" learning, although theories of negotiation and research examining negotiation will also be covered. Each student will have a great deal of control over how much he or she will develop into a better negotiator as a result of participating in this course.
  • Section 020: Due to the intensive nature of this course and the fact that Japan is 13 hours ahead of Canada, the standard add/drop and withdrawal deadlines do not apply. Add/drop is the day after the first lecture and withdrawal is the day after the second lecture.
